2019 Honda CR-V: 4 Things to Know

The 2019 Honda CR-V is a fantastic vehicle in which form sweetly follows function. This is a roomy, multi-purposeful five-seat crossover that boasts a gorgeous interior, stylish exterior, and innovative technology sure to appease all owners from Gen Z to Baby Boomers and beyond. But just because it offers an excellent array of features, that doesn't mean it's the perfect vehicle for every individual. The following is a quick look at some of the exciting changes made to this year's model as well as some returning favorite features and other things buyers show know to better understand if this is the right vehicle to add to their household:

2019 Honda CR-V: 4 Things to Know

  • New front and rear styling. One of the changes made to this year's model was a refresh on the exterior styling. Already a standout model, now it looks even more handsome from the front-end. That's because the new CR-V chrome grille sits higher and, from the side, gives the vehicle a more swooping profile.
  • New Sport trim. This is the first year to feature a CR-V Sport trim that's oriented to those drivers looking for performance + aesthetics. This trim enjoys larger 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails (ideal for those active individuals who want to haul their kayaks to Lake Michigan or travel boxes for camping trips in northern Wisconsin), a sleek black-painted exterior trim, steer wheel-mounted shift paddles, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob, active noise cancellation to make for a superbly quiet ride, and the larger 7-inch touchscreen display screen boasting an extra USB port and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
  • Outstanding fuel economy. There might not be a hybrid version of the 2019 Honda CR-V, but with how thrifty the gas-only model already is, you don't really need it. There are a couple different engines available for the 2019 Honda CR-V with the most commonly chosen being the 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that's rated at 190 horsepower due to it offering stellar performance and fuel economy. Equipped with this engine and its mated transmission, the 2019 Honda CR-V gets a class-leading 28 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon combined. Even those who opt for the more northern-friendly all-wheel-drive versions will enjoy an incredible 27 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.
  • Even more advanced safety gear. Honda is known for equipping all of its vehicles with the best in safety equipment and tech, and the 2019 Honda CR-V is no different. Previous production year models as well as this one performed outstandingly in crash tests and have led the CR-V to be named one of the safest of a family vehicle. This model earned both the highest ratings by the government NHTSA and insurance industry-funded IIHS. All trims above the base version come equipped with the complete Honda Sensing suite of safety technologies, which include key driver assist systems like automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Or, if you do want to keep with the base trim, you will get some quality safety tech like automatic high beams and rear cross traffic alert.
