2018 Honda CR-V Versus the Competition

The Honda CR-V received a full redesign last year to great acclaim. This year's 2018 production model follows most of those previous year changes with a couple unique touches sure to please Cicero drivers. The CR-V is a unique mid-sized SUV that ranks in size nicely between the auto manufacturer's subcompact HR-V and more spacious three-row PIlot SUV. This is a model that is fun to drive and nicely balances out occupant comfort with the utility you'd expect from a larger vehicle. But how does it stack against the competition? Consider the following quick look at the 2018 Honda CR-V and how it compares to other similar vehicles to help you better determine if this is the perfect vehicle to add to your Cicero driveway:

The 2018 Honda CR-V Versus the Competition

The Honda CR-V vs. Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 is more of a compact SUV but is a vehicle that many might consider when looking for a vehicle like the CR-V. Both of these models have excellent safety scores thanks to their strong design and driver assist technologies. However, where the RAV4 comes with a lot of driver assist safety features standard, you'll need to upgrade to a special tech package or choose a higher trim level of the 2018 Honda CR-V to enjoy those same features.

That said, this difference between standard and available safety features may be the only thing tilting in the RAV4 when comparing it side by side against the Honda CR-V. That's because the 2018 Honda CR-V boasts a much higher-quality interior with significantly more passenger space so that all occupants can enjoy their riding experience, whether that's around Oak Park or across the country. Additionally, this fifth generation of the CR-V boasts an incredible amount of cargo area thanks to the platforms elongated wheelbase.

The 2018 Honda CR-V vs. Toyota Highlander

Yes, another Toyota competitor. However, these two are a bit more evenly matched with the Highlander perhaps being the CR-V's biggest competitor. However, while the Highlander does offer much more than the RAV4 in terms of interior comfort and quality, it still doesn't quite live up to higher standards set by the latest 2018 CR-V. However, as with the RAV4, the Highlander does come with a long list of standard driver safety features.

But perhaps the biggest arguments for choosing the CR-V over the Highlander is what's underneath the hood and how the vehicle looks like from the outside. First up, when it comes to fuel economy, you just can't beat the CR-V which gets an incredible 28 miles per gallon* in the city and 34 miles per gallon* on the highway! That's amazing for a gas engine and far surpasses the ratings of the Highlander which are 21 city and 27 highway. Of course, one of the reasons the Highlander gets such little gas mileage is that it does pack quite the powerful V6 and so might be a more desirable choice for those needing to trailer something. That said, those drivers of the Honda CR-V not only will get to enjoy going further for less, they'll also like doing so in style as the exterior of the CR-V is more athletic and modern -- a true beauty to drive.
